Potential Project Benefits

Work to study and potentially operate the project would create an immediate, positive benefit to the City of Emily and the local community from exploration, environmental studies, and other support and related activity, and longer term with the employment of personnel for various project-related operations.

Because certain land parcels are owned by Cooperative Mineral Resources and People’s Security Company, wholly-owned subsidiaries of Crow Wing Power Cooperative, every cooperative member would financially benefit if a project moved forward.

The sale of the manganese from state-owned land would also generate significant public royalties, money that would benefit taxpayers across Minnesota.

There is also an opportunity for Minnesota to potentially develop a facility to process and upgrade the manganese ore before it is sent to battery manufacturers and other downstream industries. This would benefit the state economically and support a cleaner environment.
